I've been on Android my whole life. But if you ask me why, I can't point to one big thing or feature. It's actually all the little things that I've gotten used to over the years—things like that Clipboard historyReverse wireless charging, app pinning, notification history, and app peers—that make it nearly impossible for me to ditch Android.

Heck, some of them are so underrated that long-time Android users don't even know they exist. I don't blame them though. Google just doesn't talk about these features enough, so this list is my attempt to fix that.

If you've ever removed an important notification — or worse, accidentally hit the "clear all" button — Android has a feature that can bring those notifications back. The only catch is this. It is not enabled by default.which means you'll need to turn it on before it can start logging anything.

towards Settings -> Notifications -> Notification History And turn on the toggle. After doing this, Android will keep a 24-hour log of every notification you receive. Interestingly, it can also help you catch WhatsApp or Instagram messages that were deleted by someone after they were sent.

Split screen is easily one of them. Best productivity features of Android. It lets you scroll through Instagram reels while replying to messages, watch a YouTube video while reading an article, or take notes during a video call. There is plenty of room to be creative with it. What many people miss, is that you don't have to manually configure the same combinations every time.

Once you have two apps in split screen, open the recent apps menu, tap the pair icon at the top, and select Add/Save App Pair. It adds a shortcut to your home screen that lets you open both apps in split-screen view with one tap.

Most high-end Android phones support. Wireless charging At this time. But some of them, like the Galaxy and Pixel phones, also support reverse wireless charging. It basically turns the back of your phone into a tiny charging pad for your earbuds, smartwatch, or even another phone. Sure, you could also use a cable for this, and it's honestly a lot faster, but if you don't have a job, it's a useful alternative.

To use it, enable it. Wireless Power Sharing from Settings -> Batterythen place the device you want to charge on the back of the phone. It's useful in emergencies, though it's not something I'd recommend using for everyday charging.

By default, Android can only remember the last text snippet or photo you copied. Once you copy something else, the previous item is gone. Gboard has a feature that can help with this. Open it within any app, tap Clipboard icon On the toolbar, and enable Clipboard history.

From then on, everything you copy will appear in the list, and you can paste it whenever you need to. Gboard automatically cleans up these entries after an hour or so, which means you don't need to delete them manually. And the best part is that you can also pin specific items that you need often, such as your phone number, address, email, or anything else that you need to paste regularly.

App pinning is a feature that can lock your phone to an app, and it's honestly one of the easiest ways to hand your phone to a friend or child. All you have to do is open the recent apps overview, tap the app icon, and select Pin on screen.. If you don't see the option available, you need to enable it first by following this path. Settings app -> Security & privacy -> More security & privacy -> App Pinning -> Use App Pinning..

After that, the other person can't switch apps, check notifications, or even go to the home screen. To exit, swipe up and hold (or press the back button if using 3-button navigation), then unlock the device. I find this perfect when handing my phone to my kid to watch YouTube or play a game.

Long press the home button or navigation bar to open Circle to Search, then circle or tap the text you want to copy or translate. And it gets better. If you select a phone number or email address, you can tap to start a call or send an email.

Live Caption is a feature that can add subtitles to any video you're watching on your phone even when it's on silent. This is especially useful when you don't have earbuds and don't want to disturb the people around you. I use it every time I watch reels that don't have subtitles or check voice notes in public.

It's technically an accessible feature, but that doesn't mean you can't use it. You can find it below. Settings -> Accessibility -> Hearing Enhancement. On most phones, you can also activate it from the volume panel. The caption box is also flexible, so you can drag it around the screen to move it out of the way and change the style of the text.

Whenever an app opens, a window closes, or a menu slides, Android plays a short animation to smooth the transition. They look great, sure, but they also take time and require processing. Speeding up or disabling these animations is a neat way to make your phone feel faster.

Of course, this isn't something you need to do on a flagship phone. But if you have one. Budget Android phone Or one that's struggling to keep up, it's definitely worth a try. This option has been removed. Android Developer Options menu, so you'll need to enable it first.
